A critical and cultural exploration of works and ideologies from Navajo and Hopi tales of origins to Puritan pathologies and predestined patterns, from enlightened progress to slave narratives and romantic reveries. Writers will include Wheatley, Edwards, Bradstreet, Franklin, Hawthorne, Stowe, Douglass, Poe and others.
