Prerequisites: LSOC 101 or permission of the instructor. This course is a developmental presentation of English law and procedure from the Roman period until today. Of particular concern will be the growth of the concept of law itself from the age of Bracton to Coke to Blackstone to Holmes and how it was affected by the religious, political, social, and economic conflicts of each period and the challenges facing the Common Law in the world today. 3 cr.
