Prerequisite: IT 230 and IT 250, or permission of instructor. This course introduces the students to wireless networks by exploring the latest wireless technologies in the networking industry. The students learn about wireless LANs, Cellular Telephone, Infrared lasers, Microwave, Spread spectrum, and Satellite. The course also looks at the current industry standards such as IEEE 802.11 (Physical Layer) and IEEE 802.11 (Medium Access Control and Network Layer). 3 cr.
