Prerequisite: Two 100-level writing courses with a grade of "C" or better and juniorstanding, or permission of English chair. This is a continued study of the significant attitudes and problems of the nineteenth century as expressed in poetry and prose. Readings are drawn from authors such as Carlyle, Mill, Tennyson, Dickens, Arnold, Hardy, and others. This course satisfies the Humanities literature requirements for Arts and Sciences students. 3 cr.
