This is an introduction to the economic analysis of the problems of poverty and gender and race discrimination in the United States. Competing analytical perspectives are presented and evaluated. The course covers, among other topics, the analysis of government policies such as income maintenance, minimum wages, Affirmative Action, and education policies. 3 cr.
