Prerequisite: CHEM 211; CHEM 221; CHEM 327 or concurrently, MATH 235, PHYS 134; or permission of the instructor. This course is an exploration of the fundamental physical laws governing the behavior of all substances. Among the topics examined are the kinetic theory of gases, real gas behavior, the basic laws of thermodynamics, and chemical equilibria. Offered in alternate years. 3 cr.
