Prerequisite: CHEM 106, sophomore standing, a minimum GPA of 3.00, and permission or the instructor. Research Project courses provide students with an opportunity to explore, in the chemistry laboratory, topics that go beyond what is normally covered in their coursework as well as help develop good laboratory and research skills. In addition to the specific goals of the project, this course will focus on accurate record keeping, acquiring basic gravimetric and volumetric technique, and laboratory safety. The project could be an extension of a course topic or one that is independent of specific course content and could be proposed by either the instructor or the student, in either case it must be one that both agree upon. 1-3 cr.
