The First Law of Thermodynamics serves as the basis for investigating problems as applied to open and closed systems. Emphasis is placed on evaluating the change in properties of gases and vapors undergoing various nonflow and flow processes. The Carnot Cycle is used to develop the Second Law and Entropy concept.
