Analyzes principles of inheritance as they apply to human genetics. Focuses on the chromosomes structure and function, the basis and consequences of mutation and metabolic pathways regulated through gene action. Topics include population genetics, genetic diseases, gene manipulation and current tools such as amniocentesis and karotyping used in genetic analysis and counseling. Extensive use of technology. Prerequisite: LSC 153 or LSC 192 or equivalent.
