NOT OFFERED IN 2009-10. OFFERED IN 2010-11. Examines the basic legal instruments and their historical development in addressing international environmental issues. Under what conditions have states been able to cooperate to improve the global environment Nego-tiation of, compliance with, and effectiveness of international environmental law, and specific environmental issue areas in which interna-tional environmental law operates will be addressed. Students may register for either ES 325 or POL3 325 and credit will be granted ac-cordingly. Prerequisite: POL3 321 or ES 214/ POL2 214 or permission of instructor.
