NOT OFFERED IN 2009-10. This course studies differences in living standards and economic growth across countries. It focuses on both the historical experience of countries that are currently rich and the process of catch-up among poor countries. Topics include the accumu-lation of physical and human capital, population growth, technological change, trade, geography, institutions, and inequality.
