Steady NOT OFFERED IN 2009-10. Throughout the African Diaspora, economic change has resulted in the migration of large numbers of people to urban centers. This course explores the causes and consequences of urban growth and development, with special focus on the most disadvantaged cities. The course will draw on examples from the United States, the Caribbean, South America, and Africa. Prerequisite: One 200-level course of relevance to Africana Studies or permission of the instructor.
