This course will concentrate on the period from World War I to the outbreak of the Cold War. Topics will include, but are not limited to, the following--the rise of communism and fascism, the pre-war paralysis of democracy, World War II, and postwar conditions of the continent. Credit, 3 hours. Prerequisite: HIST 138 or consent of instructor. Offered spring semester, even years.
