This course focuses on different topics from year to year all centered on music from the 18th through early 19th centuries. Topics in the past have included "Music and the Enlightenment," "Music and the French Revolution," and "BeethoveRossini, and the Transition to Romanticism." See the schedule of classes for the current theme of the course. Assignments include weekly reading and listening to be discussed in class, short written assignments in response to assigned discussion questions, and an independent research project.
