In this course, students explore various methods and schools of thought concerning performance health for the musician. Topics include current research on injury prevention, posture and alignment, stress reduction and relaxation, and performance anxiety. Professional practitioners of established methods such as the Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais present workshops during the semester, and members of the NEC studio faculty act as guest speakers. Students who complete this course will know how to access a broad base of resources they can consult and rely upon throughout their musical careers.
