Three Credits Alternate Years: Spring 2010, 2012 An examination of U.S. policy toward Southeast Asia and the war in Vietnam from the 1940s to the present. The course explores the origins of the U.S. military commitment in Southeast Asia and the ultimate failure of U.S. policy. The effects of the war on veterans and the home front, the peace movement, and the legacy of the war for contemporary U.S. society is also examined.
