Three Credits Not Offered 2008-2009 During the Renaissance the Virgin Mary symbolized a broad spectrum of popular and intellectual ideas; for example, images of the Madonna and naked Christ child could emphasize the humanity Jesus shares with all people. This integrative seminar will explore the meaning of religious images in the art and literature of Renaissance Italy and northern Europe.
