8 week course (2 contact hours per week) Emphasis is placed on the discipline of nursing and its professional and legal standards of practice. The role of manager of care, and member of the profession, will be stressed. Delegation, evaluation, management and leadership principles as related to the practice are examined. Issues impacting the professional nurse in the healthcare setting are explored including ethical, legal, education, and licensure. Prerequisite: Nursing courses in the first three nursing semesters.
