An introductory course in the history of ideas and theories concerning Metaphysics (Reality) and Epistemology (Knowledge), including questions of sensation, perception, cognition, appearance, mind, matter, skepticism and truth. This course examines these issues in light of the aims and methods of great thinkers throughout history, such as the pre-Socratics, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Aquinas, Descartes, Hobbes, Laplace, La Mettrie, Berkeley, Locke, Hume, Kant, Skinner, Newton, Chomsky and Ryle.
