This course is designed to offer preservice elementary teachers an in-depth understanding of modern elementary school mathematics and the materials, strategies and "hands-on" experiences that support this. Knowledge, understanding and theability to use major concepts, procedures, and reasoning processes of mathematics are emphasized. An improved understanding of mathematical concepts addressed in elementary classrooms will be prioritized. Prerequisites: Admission to the FEP program.
