This course allows pre-service middle school teachers to develop skills needed as knowledgeable decision-makers in the instruction of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking skills. This course supports the development of knowledge, understanding and the ability to use concepts from reading, language and child development to prepare language arts lessons for a diverse community of learners. Formal and informal assessment techniques are introduced and practiced. Prerequisites: Admission to the FEP program.
