This course deals with the most common mode of disposing of criminal cases, that is, an agreement between prosecution and defense involving a guilty plea for a lesser penalty. The evolution of plea bargaining in our society will be discussed, as well as how everyday notions of justice are addressed through the practice of plea bargaining. Students will examine various criminal cases which have been resolved through plea bargaining.
