The elements of painting are explored as studentartists engage projects in the study of the still life through the lens of Impressionism, abstraction from non-visual sources, and nonobjective painting with a focus on the self-referential use of materials. Projects enable students to resolve the more advanced problems of pictorial structure and organization and to arrive at a keener appreciation of the interaction of color. Prerequisite: AR 221.
