Students in this course learn to define and examine the fundamentals and history of American Criminal Law. The course will explore the dynamics of Criminal Law and its development from English common law into an elaborate system of Federal, State, and Local laws based on Codes, Statutes, Judicial case law and Common Law and its function in society. The course will help students develop a basic understanding of the nature and definitions of Crimes and resulting Prosecution and Punishments in our constitutional democracy.
