This course is designed to give a better understanding of the theories of equitation. Students will explore the history of riding and the development of the balanced seat. Participants in this class will research the evolution of riding and how it developed into the four major disciplines (Dressage - Hunt Seat - Western - Saddle Seat) we have today. The major purpose of this course is to give a glimpse of history as well as a brief overview of different breed and riding styles. Through this knowledge students can become better riding instructors and horse trainers. Furthermore, students will be empowered to make positive contributions to the industry by understanding the mistakes and successes of the past and present. Designated critical thinking
