David C. Hester This course is intended to introduce students to the praxis of Christian education in a congregational setting. It is a course in practical theology, and students who have completed it should be able to engage issues and problems in church education, interpreting them theologically and methodologically and designing appropriate practical responses. Students examine the culture of a congregation, and consider what is necessary to meet their congregation's needs for education for belonging, critical reflection, and public witness. This course fulfills the Teaching Ministry requirement for the Master of Divinity degree program.
