Using interdisciplinary approach, course investigates social and spiritual factors that contribute to development of individual identities. Research from anthropology, social-psychology, psychoanalysis, feminist theory, race studies, Christian and Buddhist thought employed to help explain the development and construction of human self. Questions include: What is self? How do infants become socialized? How do structural factors like class, race and gender infl uence identity? Prerequisite: SOC101 or PSY201 or permission of instructor.
