Examines concept of community and what makes communities strong and effective. Considers how problems typically understood as individually rooted can be recast as problems in social system. Topics include problem prevention, self-help groups, community-based mental health treatment, program evaluation, social intervention, community development, and nonprofessional or paraprofessional intervention.
