Course will introduce Western art music of the 20th century to non-music majors. We will chronologically explore diverse styles and genres of music as composed by a panorama of vibrant musical personalities in the 20th century. Our goal will be to demystify some of the construction techniques and resulting sounds which have currently expanded our definition of "e-music."Included in our discovery will be discussions on the interplay of music, literature, and the visual arts as reactive and motivating forces on current 21st-century aesthetics. We will close the course by investigating current trends in art music. Fulfills the Aesthetic Perspective of the General Education requirements. (Semester varies)
