An introduction to the American dance form of jazz, including blues and musical theater dance. Utilizing East Indian and African-Cuban rhythms, this technique is based on exercises and movement developed by choreographer Jack Cole. Classes focus on the development of strength, flexibility, isolation, and control through a series of stretches, strengthening exercises, and center floor combinations. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: permission of the Dance faculty.
