Prerequisite: Six units of linguistics or psychology, or consent of instructor. Theory and research on acquisition of first and subsequent languages in children and adults. Psycholinguistic perspectives on phonological, syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic aspects of language. Interacting roles of cognitive processes, individual differences, social influences, and cultural context will be stressed. Same course as LING 539. (Seminar) Letter grade only (A-F)
