Prerequisites: HDEV 320, HDEV 360 or an equivalent upper-level cultural anthropology course (e.g. ANTH 414,415,419,420,421) and consent of instructor. Examination of socialization as both a universal and culturally specific phenomenon. Topics include cross-cultural variations in teaching and learning; socialization of children and adult novices; socialization as key aspect of social and cultural reproduction and source of innovation and change.
