Survey of political, social, economic, and cultural development of the United States from discovery through reconstruction. Focus on the colonial era, establishment of the new nation, sectional problems, national growth, disunion, and reconstruction. Material may be covered chronologically or topically. Not open for credit to students with credit in HIST 162A. (CAN HIST 8)
