Prerequisites: Completion of GE Foundation requirements, one or more Explorations courses, and upper-division standing. Examines major events and ideas in the society and culture of ancient Rome. Emphasis on literature, the arts, and history. Topics include genesis and growth of the Roman world, transition from Republic to Empire, imperial maturity, decay and decline, and the contributions of the Romans to the modern world.
