The historical evolution of policing as an institution of social control with emphasis placed on the contemporary roles of police officers, including patrol strategies, training procedures, ethical standards, and discretion. Considers under-represented groups in policing and corruption in police agencies. Not open for credit to students with credit in CRIM 483. Letter grade only (A-F).
