Prerequisites: CHEM 320B with a grade of "C" or better; CHEM 371B or 377B (may be taken concurrently). (Undergraduates enroll in CHEM 421; graduates enroll in CHEM 521.)Theoretical interpretation of chemical and physical properties of organic compounds: mathematical derivations of rate equations from experimental results, quantitative comparison of organics compounds reactivities, mathematical correlations of structure and properties. Solving problems relating to reaction mechanisms to described factors. (Lecture 3 hrs.)
