Prerequisite: CHEM 111A with a grade of "C" or better and completion of GE Foundation requirements. Prerequisite or corequisite: CHEM 111B. Introduction to cellular and molecular principles common to life forms including biological macromolecules, cell structure, metabolism, genetics, and molecular biology. Also includes microbiology of prokaryotes and the origin of life. Letter grade only (A-F). (Lecture 3 hrs., laboratory 6 hrs.) Course fee may be required. (BIOL 211A+211B, CAN BIOL SEQ A.)
