Prerequisites: CHEM 111A or 140 with a grade of "C" or better and completion of GE Foundation requirements. Microbiology for those planning careers in nursing, health care and education, and foods and nutrition. Introduction to microorganisms, including structure, function, metabolism, growth, genetics, diversity, and applied aspects. Special emphasis on human health. Not open for credit to majors in the biological sciences. (Lecture 2 hrs., laboratory 6 hrs.) Course fee may be required. (CAN BIOL 14)
