Examination of artistic developments in Northern Europe, particularly Flanders, France, and Germany, from the 14th century through 16th century. Historical, cultural, and religious and theoretical framework. Special attention to iconography, and the changing role of the artist in society. Not open for credit to students with credit in ART 425 or 598H. Letter grade only (A-F).
