The course begins with an intensive study of art and the creative development of young children and the principles and practices appropriate for elementary students. Studio experiences in a variety of two and three dimensional art media provide a necessary foundation. Students are then guided in curriculum development, lesson planning, and appropriate teaching and assessment strategies in preparation for a four week, team teaching field experience that provides for implementation of curriculum theory. Lab fee.
