An inquiry into the persistent problems of psychology as they have arisen throughout the Western intellectual tradition. Examines such problems as mind-body dualism, the relationship between subjectivity and objectivity, knowledge of otherminds, free will vs. determinism and the relationship between the physical, animal, and human orders. Cultural-historical survey applied to a critical interpretation of contemporary 20th century systems of psychology. Prerequisite: PSYC100. Senior status; junior status with permission of instructor.
