Intermediate conversation/culture course explores selected Frenchspeaking regions around the world, focusing on issues and areas of student interest (areas such as Sub-Saharan Africa, the Antilles, the Maghreb, Québec and themes like "the African folk tale," or "womin Algeria"). Through analysis of authentic cultural documents (films, poems, short stories, newspaper articles, publicity, Internet documents), students examine aspects of both traditional culture and the modern, post-colonial state. Grammar review as needed to support course assignments. Prerequisite: FREN201 or four years of high school French.
