For thosewhowill be teachers in elementary school to help children learn mathematical concepts, skills, attitudes and problem solving techniques. Teaching strategies, techniques and learned activities related to specific mathematical topics are discussed and experienced. Emphasis is on models and materials to develop concepts and understanding so that mathematical learning is meaningful. The course is aligned with national (NCTM) and state curriculum, professional and assessment standards for school mathematics. Prerequisite: EDUC/SPEC265.
