This course examines the risks and benefi ts of genetic engineering. This course provides students with the principles of genetic inheritance; a history of the development of genetic engineering; and case studies of the current uses of this technology in agriculture and industry; gene therapy in humans; reproductive and therapeutic cloning; stem cell research; and the application and use of genetic engineering in the study of human disease. Three advanced modules from those offered for Bgs 391. Prereq: basic knowledge of physical and biological sciences; Eng 101, 102. (3 Credits)
