In this course, students learn basic skills for conducting both vocal and instrumental ensembles, including (1) beat patterns and expressive gestures, (2) score reading and study, (3) rehearsal organization and technique, and (4) introduction to historical styles and repertoire. Students in this course should be able to read music, have some keyboard facility, and have some knowledge of elementary music theory and history. PRQ: MUSC 103 or consent of instructor.
