(XL: POLS 533) From its beginning, the United States had a foreign policy based on principles of exceptionalism, independent action, and manifest destiny. By the end of the 19th century, the nation had emerged as a world power. This course examines foreign policy ideology, open door policy, U.S. hegemony over Latin America, American imperialism, and the U.S. role in both world wars. PRQ: 18 hours of history.
