Designed and developed especially for non-science majors, this course examines current societal issues related to chemistry and the environment. Course topics may include air quality, water quality, ozone depletion, global warming, alternative energy sources and conservation, solid waste disposal and recycling, polymers, drugs, and nutrition. Appropriate chemistry is introduced as topics are presented. A goal of the course is to enhance critical thinking skills while providing a foundation of knowledge for making informed decisions about environmental issues.
