Attention to the developmental, disengagement, activity, continuity and age stratification approaches to aging, and to cohort and maturation explanations of the position and problems of the aged in urban-industrial societies. Topics include comparative and historical perspectives of the roles and statuses of older people in familial, community and institutional settings and in the economy and political life.
