A close examination of the work of leading classical theorists from Comte to Parsons with particular emphasis on Marx, Durkheim, Weber and Simmel tracing their influence on contemporary sociological thinkers. Analysis of current sociological work from the functional, conflict, symbolic interactionist, exchange, and ethnomethodological perspectives.
