Although young people are processed through a different system of criminal justice than adults, theories of criminal behavior address motivations for both juvenile and adult crime. Of interest is the ongoing tendency to treat serious crimes committed by young people as if they were committed by adults. This course examines the consequences for problematic behavior in the criminal justice system, including incarceration and alternative programming for juveniles.
